You can always wash dishes by hand but that will take time. Unfortunately, even the most trusted brands, such as Beauti.co.nz, will encounter problems at one time or another. Fortunately, you can always reset it and we cover this with a detailed guide below on how to reset your Bosch dishwasher.

For most error codes and problems, resetting the Bosch dishwasher often does the trick.

How do you do this exactly?

It will depend on the kind of dishwasher that you have.

Most Bosch dishwashers can be reset using the same method except for specific models such as the Bosch Ascenta dishwasher. So this is something you need to be aware of.

It is also important to note that Bosch dishwashers have built-in diagnostic systems that display an error code when it detects, finds, and sees a fault or error in the equipment.

Common reasons to reset a Bosch dishwasher

• Because of a problem or error – This can be anything from the dishwasher making bad noises to not starting.
• Make a cycle change – When you find yourself wanting to change the cycle to ensure better or less intense cleaning.
• Interrupt or cancel a chosen cycle – This gives you an option to stop the cleaning cycle you accidentally started.

How to reset Bosch dishwasher with Cancel Drain control panels

For most models, holding down the on-off button for at least 10 seconds is the easiest way to interrupt a cycle and stop the operation completely. But those that have a Cancel Drain on the control panel, should use it to reset a dishwasher.

1. Slowly open the dishwasher door to keep the hot water from splashing out and burning/scalding your skin.
2. Open it sufficiently until you see the control buttons. There will be two buttons labeled as Cancel Drain.
3. Hold and press down on the two buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
4. Close the door and allow the dishwasher to complete its cycle, which is usually a minute or less. Listen to when the drain noise stops and see if the ‘Clean’ light or LED indicates a complete cycle.
5. Open the door again, and then hold the on-off toggle. This will complete the reset process and turn the dishwasher off.

How to reset a BoschAscenta dishwasher

Unlike other dishwasher models, Ascenta dishwashers may come with child lock buttons, which will add a few steps to the reset process.

1. 1. Open the door slowly when resetting in the middle of a cycle to prevent burns and injuries from hot water.
   2. Deactivate the child lock button, if it is engaged, so you can work any of the other buttons on the unit.
   3. Press and hold the “<” button.
   4. Wait for CL or Child Lock to disappear from the screen or for the LED light underneath the words to turn off. This indicates the child lock feature has been disengaged.
   5. Open the dishwasher’s door sufficiently to see the keys on the equipment.
   6. Hold down the ‘START RESET’ toggle until the LED light on the word ACTIVE turns off.
   7. Side Note: If you own a SHE5AM model, you hold down the ‘START RESET’ toggle until the clock displays 0:01.
   8. Close the door and wait for about 60 seconds.
   9. Side Note: If you own a SHE5AM model, wait until the clock displays 0:00.
   10. Open the door again and hold the on-off toggle.

Resetting a Bosch dishwasher is fairly easy. Just follow the steps above and hope that these will fix whatever problem the machine is experiencing.

Common error codes of a Bosch dishwasher

Error Code E0 – This appears when you enter a diagnostic test mode and no fault code is recorded.

Error Code E01 or E1 – Indicates a heating issue.

1. 1. • Check if the water level is correct.
      • If it is and the error code still appears, you could be looking at a problem with a flow switch or heater, which you may need to replace.
      • Repair and replacement of parts will involve removing the dishwasher tub to have access to the heater.

Error Code E15 – This indicates that the dishwasher is not sensing water or doesn’t have water.

1. 1. • Tilt back the dishwasher while pressing the OFF button and see if the error code disappears.
      • Return to its normal position and run normally.
      • If the error doesn’t go away, you may need to replace the tilting machine.

Error Code E2 – This indicates a problem with the temperature sensor.

1. 1. • You will have to remove the dishwasher tub to have access to the sensor.
      • When needed, the parts required to fix the problem is a thermistor or temperature sensor.

Error Code E22 – This indicates residual water in the sump.

1. 1. • Check if the pump is blocked or if the filter is dirty. The error would also occur if there is grease buildup in the dishwasher.
      • You may need to replace the pump or filter if the error persists.

Error Code E24 – This refers to a drain error that may be caused by issues with the circulation pump or main control.

1. 1. • You may need to have the pump or control board module fixed or replaced.

Error Code E25 – This indicates a problem with the drain due to a clogged filter or a jammed pump impeller.

1. 1. • Depending on which part of the dishwasher is clogged, you may need to remove, clean, and unclog the filter or pump impeller.

Error Code E3 – This error code appears when the dishwasher doesn’t fill with water due to:

1. 1. • A completely opened water supply cut-off valve
      • Clogged water inlet screen valve
      • Problems with the water inlet valve

To fix the problem, unplug the dishwasher and shut off the water supply. Then, check if the water inlet screen valve is clogged with gunk that may also cause the dishwasher tub to flood or overfill.

DO NOT clean the screen valve but replace it every time it is clogged.

You may need to replace the water inlet valve to fix the problem.

Running a Test Cycle

Bosch dishwashers have a test cycle which can be run as a troubleshooting measure. The method to run this test cycle is similar across the Bosch dishwasher range so if your dishwasher features seems different from those described below then try experimenting, as the process is fairly straight forward and will be very similar. Bosch dishwasher model numbers are usually found around the top or lip of the door.

One of the most common differences between dishwasher models is simply the names of the buttons. For example in the first example below, POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH may be called WASH and ECO depending on your dishwasher model and the country you are in. The other key difference is whether your dishwasher has a display panel (which can display error codes) or not (in which case a program light will illuminate to tell you the fault.

To run the test cycle hold down the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons. Whilst held down press the ON/OFF button. The lights above them should flash. Now you can check the status of each dishwasher program by pressing its button. Now you can run the full test cycle = Press the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons again. The dishwasher will start up and when the cycle has ended one, if you have no display panel on your dishwasher model the indicator lights will illuminate if a malfunction was detected as follows –

CLEAN – A temperature sensor fault. If this is the case then the test cycle will be very short as the dishwasher will terminate the test once it’s been detected.

RINSE/DRY – A water sensor/filling fault. If this is the problem then the test cycle will not complete as the dishwasher cannot detect the right level of water, the dishwasher will just keep filling and draining again.

WASH – A heating fault. Check your heating element.

If you do have a display panel on your Bosch dishwasher then after the cycle is complete an error code will be shown if a fault has been detected. The error codes are as follows –

0 – No errors have been detected.
1 – A water sensor/filling fault.
2 – A heating fault.
4 – A water filling fault. This can also appear as F on the display during a normal cycle.
8 – A temperature sensor fault.
